The WOMBAT SERIE is the result of years of knowledge and practicing on vespa engines and two stroke engines in general.  A wombat engine is the result of its components all togheter from the crancase work to the barrell, exhaust, gearing and carb. Some of these parts are home made and not available to the market. The goal of the wombat serie is to be what for us is the best possible vespa engine not made specifically for competition race and independently from the time and money needed to do it. Without the use of an exhaust valve and having 4 gears it definetely means that something has to be sacrified for a power curve that doesn't make you nervous but excited. With the wombat serie we have tried not to win a race but to win our heart. Smallframe and largeframe engines will be used for this serie.

Some work is necessary to fit a RD350 (banshee) reed block in a smallframe engine with central case reed inlet. Part of the cases arm has to be cut. Then it will be renforced in some critical areas.

A solid alu bloc has been welded inside.

The same alu bloc welded inside is bigger then the engine arm so from outside you can notice a bulk.

Some welding job in the same central case reed inlet. This engine will mount a modified Fabrizi barrel with a different piston.

Fabrizi barell 1,1mm shortened and with the 3rd port opened at the base.

The Fabrizi barrel uses the first piston on the right. The same piston is found in the Polini Rotax kit. Its windows don't make any sense used with the Fabrizi though not really detrimental for the performance. First from the left a Polini piston for Honda NSR kit. It doesn't have any opening in its skirt. This piston with an opened window (in the middle) will be used with the Fabrizi. Note that this piston has a 16mm pin insted of 15mm so a special conrod has to be used with.
